Graham + Wilder Gives Back

Started in 2021, G+W Gives Back is part of our effort to support the people of Philadelphia. Each quarter we donate to a charity, small businesses, or other constructive organization operating in the Philadelphia area.

We’re just one small team. If you join us in supporting these amazing organizations, we can make a huge difference together. You can see the list of previous recipients below. Feel free to join us each quarter or share your favorite charity for us to consider.

Philabundance

philabundance.org

From the Philabundance website: “Hunger hits every zip code in America. Without access to nutritious food – or enough of it – people can’t thrive. It affects everything – from health to education to financial success. It is hard to concentrate on school work, find a job, or manage a heart problem if you struggle with food insecurity. Hunger is one of the harshest and most detrimental symptoms of poverty. Most simply, it is a result of not having enough money to cover all of your basic needs.”

Philabundance has been fighting hunger and poverty since 1984, and we are proud to help them in whatever small way we can. In Q4 of 2021, we donated to Philabundance in an effort to help those in need have food for the holidays.

Flannel’s 2021 Summer Music Series

flannelrestaurant.com

Technically speaking, our favorite restaurant is not a charity organization nor are the local bands performing at Flannel every Friday. Though, we believe supporting local businesses and artists is eminently important and constructive. In Q3 of 2021, Graham + Wilder sponsored the summer series of Flannel's Live Music program. We couldn’t agree more with the community-centric sentiment within Flannel’s own mission statement:

"Flannel, a comfort inspired restaurant boasting a southern vibe and an all-inclusive staff. But Flannel is more than a restaurant, it’s a way of weaving the community together to create opportunity for everyone. It’s about finding that homey feel within a restaurant tucked into East Passyunk Avenue."

Eliza B. Kirkbride School

We believe quality education is one of the major motivators for positive change in communities, and unfortunately, government funding does not always seem to agree. The Kirkbride School is one of the many institutions in Philadelphia taking matters into their own hands to raise funds for supplies, maintenance, and improvements. In Q2 2021, we supported the 5th annual Night Out for Kirkbride fundraiser backing a soccer pitch in the schoolyard.

South Philadelphia Community Fridge

The South Philly Fridge is a shining example of what teamwork and community outreach can achieve. As a team of foodies, we believe accessible good food is crucial to health. Not only individual, bodily health but the health of the community and the city at large. Check out South Philly Fridge’s mission statement:

“We're a community-centered, volunteer-based organization dedicated to giving all Philadelphians access to fresh and healthy food, combatting food insecurity and inequality in our city through mutual aid.

Studies show that nearly 1 in 5 Philadelphia families struggle with hunger, and food pantries' demand for fresh produce has increased 3x since 2019.

We partner with local grocers and restaurants to stock this fridge with perfectly good produce, pantry staples, and prepared foods that would otherwise be thrown out.”

We hope you enjoy learning about the many wonderful organizations who work tirelessly to provide goods and services to those in need. We applaud their efforts and hope in our own way we can make a meaningful contribution. If you have a certain organization you would like us to know about, please feel free to contact us at grahamwilder@compass.com.

We're all in this together!

Thank you,

Ilene, Stephanie, & Chris
